MyTurn

Few days. . .A landmark day. One doesn’t really know it at the time. However, I do sense a change upon us. Can’t say what the nature of change because I don’t really know myself. Life changes as it always does. People coming. People going. People growing. People slowing. I can see it in their eyes, their movements, their mannerism. Children proud with awards being received. A happiness in their parent’s eyes as the future unfolds.

I see the FB post of another family friend passing. Distant friend gone in body, but never lost in spirit. A changing of the guard as new ministers share their homilies. I look at the sacred relics of ancient past of lives that were remarkable.  I show the little one the magics of a boomerang. We shoot a plastic bow and arrow and he gives me a lesson on the Autobots and Decepticons. I review the pictures of the underwater camera.

Listening to the oscillating fan pivot left and right. A contraction and expansion of life. Yesterday, I read of the tension brewing between the PI and China. It made me think of my Tatay. We visited him (and Rochelle) yesterday. According to Ancestry, he was a scout for the Army. It reminded me of the premier of Amigo the Movie. Tatay lived during that time. A time of war. A time when there was a change of guard. A change of thinking. A change.

Precie’s birthday is the landmark day. Fourth of July.  She almost past on her birthday. She was touched by the Angels that day fourteen years ago. These moments when a drive to Las Vegas could be so insignificant. We think it is a simple a visit, when a loved one from a Bagdhad tour comes home. We hope when a loved one’s visit for a biopsy is nothing but routine. We fire up when fighting over the ownership of a spoon. These can be so overwhelming when dealing with a three four year old with a headstrong personality. All these big and little things mean so little and so much. Our view contracts and expands. We see lives in the moment. Catching bits and pieces here and there.

Found myself at a gas station I never visit. Lost in the great moment of buying fruit juice so I can get change for a newspaper. I don’t really buy newspapers. I was not particularly thirsty. Still, had a sense that I needed to be there at that moment. So there I stood wandering in the tiny gas station. Then I heard from behind, “Can you tell me where Avenue R is? I am looking for Saint Mary’s Church.“

Got poked on my soul. Realized that it was my turn. Not going to say a bigger picture. However, for some time, been feeling out of the Flow. Backsliding a bit. The view, my view, has lost some of freshness. Nothing seemed alive as it once did. Not sure it was attitude or vitamin deficiency, but my view has been dragging. Not the same energy, same enthusiasm, that same light.

However, when she said, “I am looking for Saint Mary’s” It reminded me that we need some direction some time. We need to take charge and lead others where they need to go. We need to go. Experiences, life lessons, past wins and losses—It gives us a perspective that can make a difference.

Read a short FB post from one I knew in high school. He wrote, “God is good. Didn’t have a job for the summer until. . .” Didn’t know it at the time, but it was a page turning in the story for the day. Watched a documentary the Afterlife. It had that same sensation.  Discussed people’s attitudes and beliefs of the Afterlife. Interviewed experts on OBE’s and NDE. Discussed the Life Review, the tunnel, and overwhelming sense of Love. When one gets that “Ah-Ha” moment, the world seems so much clearer. The mystery is revealed.  Like someone has flipped the “On” switch and shone us the light. Life is such a mystery and it’s our journey to uncover all its gifts. We need to get dirt under our fingernails to see Life’s beauty. We think it is just spider webs and weeds at times, and for some it is just that.

Still, if everything were pleasant, how would we take appreciation to what we like. Don’t think everyone wants war. Don’t think everyone enjoys a fight. But it’s not supposed to work that way. We are the receiver and sender. We are messenger and message. We think that things are done to us and forget we do things to others.

Our universe perspective is as important as the one next to you. That other one could be a child’s wonderment. It could be an elder’s experience.  We must temper wide eyed joy amazement with sharpened eye of someone who has been there before. Give up some of childishness while losing some of that “Way It Used to Be.”

Landmark moment is coming. It is always Coming. . .and always Going. Lest we forget that our duty is guide and to follow. Its giving up and letting go. So as to take charge and take in. This conduit, we are. Take Love, Give Love.

No, I didn’t need the paper. No, I wasn’t thirsty. Ask me why, I stopped at the gas station before I got there.  I couldn’t tell you. When I heard that lady that ask “Where is St Mary’s?” It was revealed. I said “Follow me. I am was headed that way before I got a message to stop and pick something up.” Little did she know I was supposed to show her the way. Big Smile, got the message.

It was my turn.

2010 Looking Back: 365 Days Captured

Been up for a couple of hours. Guess, I was more tired than expected. Slept through the 1/1/11. Funny, but that is okay. All of last year went by so fast.  Started a project that I had no idea what I was getting into. It started with a photo at sunset and sunrise. My G time. Wanted to time stamp that I did it. Had my conversation with the Big Smile. Never was religious person, but felt spiritual. Felt a communion.  Not sure what that means, not religious, but spiritual. At times, it is to believe in the Church than to believe in God. This can’t be the way.

Sure organized practices are vital for continuity, but when they replace the essence, the spirit, then it is time to re-evaluate practices.  During the year, I explored, visited, spoke, questioned people and places and faith. There is a sense of home when I’ve visited temples and churches and missions. There is a connection I cannot deny. It feels good to be.

Not sure how this goes, but guess I will free associate. Started taking photos of places and people I’ve seen.  Something happened where it was important to capture moments. Started seeing differently. It was with amazement. It was with purpose. To explore, to understand, to discover.

Started a blog a year back, this blog. Wrote with purpose. Somewhere it transformed to taking photos.  It was to add to texture of the story. To bring light and imagery to story being told. As a long time reader of comics, I have been fan of art and story-telling.  Just didn’t know it at the time. Somewhere during the year, I entered my story to the local paper. Who knew it got published. Actually, got a second one published a couple of months later. Started a few blogs and got some feedback. It was rewarding.

Not sure where all this leading. All I know is this journey. This 2011 journey. Not sure where this open road leads, but I know it will have meaning. May not understand now. May not understand for some time. However, answers will be revealed.  Things happen. It is our duty to understand, to reflect, to gain the lesson learned.

Haven’t written down resolutions for the year. Not sure what I will write down. Not sure promises I will keep to myself and others.  Looked up the word resolution. It means many things. It means to resolve, to fix a problem, to promise, to work out.

Had been a long reader of self-help books. Read everything on how to fix, how to diagnose, how to follow through.  Kept reading until I realized there is nothing wrong. These angst is what people need at times. We need a fuel to fire our passions. We need something to explore to discover and understand.

Reviewing these pictures that posted through 2010 made me realize and remember why I did things.  Made me realize we have such a big world. Made me realize that others have felt the same way I did and do. Made me realize that life is okay and will go on. Made me realize that the capacity for greatness is within all of us.

Well, New Day, New Year. Family is coming over. Need to get ready for the upcoming adventure.  Big Smile, Thank you.  For those that read, here are the link for the photos of last year. http://takeonepictureeverydayoftheyear.blogspot.com/ Leave comments, I would like to know what you think.

Can't See the Forest, the Trees Are In the Way

Feel My Flow
Saturday. Juno's on. Okay. I stopped the  video. I'm sure it is a good flic, just not into it. Been false starting a lot of late.

Enter the Dragon
Got some Dragon Blood incense burning. Need something different at the moment. Sunny outside and here I sit. Thought about writing on the full moon last night, but just wasn’t in to it. Its been that way for awhile. Not being into it. Been feeling Flow-less of late. Been swimming everyday. Been writing every other day.

Its Genetic
Been asked to do Ballroom dancing with a friend. Sounds fun and I think I am in. My Dad was a dancer. A good dancer from what I understand. Always said, before getting married, if I get married, I'd learn how to Ballroom. Maybe this is a precursor for something. Who knows? Sounds fun. My brother Kevin took a Ballroom and he has been good in about everything he does. I am incredibly proud of Kay Kay. My sister-in-law’s nephew dances too. It looks fun.

Color Me Bad, A Time Remembered
Remember years back at the frat days. BU Sig Eps threw the best mixers. Mrs. Gold, Alpha something. Toga. Boy oh boy, I was intoxicated. An angry dancer, something to prove. Something that I needed to get out then. Not a couples dancer type at the time. Got that anger out of the system. Thought about dancing as a minor. The "E Effect" again.

Lombard Street
Yet Tango looks like fun. Smiles, coordination, a little attitude and personality. A certain, "I got this" attitude. Only one I remember dancing with, being in sync with was. Well,  actually two. Ahhhh. Let’s not go there. Too many twists and turns, like Lombard.

It was Michael Jackson's death anniversary yesterday. All these dancing videos are on. Remember the Time, Smooth Criminal, Dirty Diana. Perhaps, unconsciously I equate dancing with Life. With Energy. With Celebration.

In Sync, Not Really
So where do I go from here? Laundry is drying. Kitchen is a disaster. Getting new counters installed. Granite. Maybe a swim. Maybe a run. Maybe I will just continue writing. But about what? My usual process is to type and it just flows. Perhaps my chakras are blocked again. Perhaps, I am just not feeling in sync.

Just Jump
Dragon blood smells red with energy. Bathroom has some oils burning. Linen. Like fresh laundry. Always loved that smell. Smelled like renewal. It smelled fresh. It smelled of “Vigor again.” A life lived to do again. Saddling up. Getting back on the horse. Taking a jump. I should follow my Uncle Juhn's example. Get on the zip line in the Philippines and just hang on. Always loved the smells of freedom and risk.

Moment of Pause
It’s funny. Always considered myself the thinking type. Logical. Analytical. Orderly. Now, its been more spontaneous, un-planned, more energetic. Guess, like the feather in the wind Forrest Gump-ish.  History, destiny, universe giving me a nudge here and there. Looking over these last few days, it has been uneventful. Maybe it's time to pause and collect myself.

Getting Messages
Recently adjusted my google calendar to send me email reminders of museum days.  The blackberry buzzes for awhile. Many I would like to attend. Forrest Lawn Mexican Museum, the Getty has few. Ones  to attend feels like the La Brea Tar Pits and Natural History Museum.

Odd thing, I noticed my viewing choices of late are of the history channels.Seeing these shows and museums strengthens me. It invigorates me.  Makes me think there is life out there. It has been there. It will always be there. It sends my soul messages. "Get out there learn from it. Go make some history yourself."

These visits to the Descano Gardens, Getty Center, Hearst Castle stirred something. Life, I guess. Media moguls that made fortunes like Citizen Kane. Able to make these beautiful homes with incredible gardens and forests.

Flower Flow
Noticed that the flower vibe. I think its the "E Effect". Blame her.  She’s projecting and I picked up on her flower vibe. She hasn’t written for a bit. Hope things are well. Now, I've been stopping here and there on the side of the road taking photos of flowers and trees.

All Kinds
There’s meaning and purpose to this. Just don’t see the bigger picture right. Maybe its from the Phenomenon movie. John Travolta's character picks a bouquet of wild flowers from his house to his love interest Kyra Sedgwick. You'll have to see it to get the meaning. As for my reason for taking photos of flowers and trees, I don't know. No love interest at the moment. Answer will come. This I'm sure of.

Funny at the Descano Gardens I found myself taking lots of photos of trees: bamboo, spruce, redwood.

On the trip down from SF, on the Coastline and Big Sur, I was amazed at the little pockets of trees on the side of the mountain. Green and lush on the yellow, maize hills. Green trees hugging the jagged silver coastline. Beautiful entities that hides the rivers, hides the mountains, brings shade to weary traveler. So much history.

Buddha and Bohdi, Spiritual Enlightenment
Perhaps the fascination began with learning the spiritual significance of the Bohdi tree. Read that the Buddha found enlightenment in the tree's protection. Perhaps it has been the vanishing Josuha Trees close to home. Perhaps it was the drive to Zuma with the Totem poles. Funny, started with the dance and now trees. Don't the significance of trees to the soul, but there is calmness there. Been feeling the inkling to go to the Pasadena Arboretum. Never been. Just learned about it. Maybe its time.

Gaea
Can’t watch the show the Ax Man. There is purpose in what they do, however, it feels like whale hunting. Not something that feels right. Perhaps, it is the environmentalist emerging inside of me. Stop the Oil Gushing, BP

Sitting out Big Sur just felt energizing.  Trees all around. Lots of energy. It felt like wearing clothes  just out of the dryer. Renewed. Well, it is time to go. Got to look at the Bonsai, she's calling. It needs some love and attention.
